KOBA recently appeared on VoxAfrica TV to debate future UK-Africa trade relations, and the emerging trends and challenges. Telecommunications, banking and retailing are flourishing; construction is booming, and so is private investment. Africa’s collective GDP, at $1.6 trillion in 2008, is now roughly equal to Brazil’s or Russia’s. But many people are questioning whether the colonial partners such as Britain has kept up to date with the continent or is it time for a new approach to UK-Africa relations?

At the interview, Henry Bonsu of VoxAfrica was joined in the studio by Dr Julia Gallagher from the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), Dr Martin Koyabe, Kenya Overseas Business Alliance (KOBA), and Yomi Oloko of Development Impact for Nigeria. Also featuring, Lord Mark Malloch-Brown, former Minister for Africa and Chair of the Royal African Society; and Rosa Whitaker from the US-based Whitaker Group.
